Drawing study
Conté Carbone on A4 paper. After Ingres' "Monsieur Leblanc". Good training for the hand-eye coordination as Ingres is one of the greatest draughtsmen in world of art, The Master of Line. Innovation is based on solid foundation (Old Masters) plus study of nature plus one's own personality. Just as the pianists play Bach over and over again so should visual artists learn from the giants of art.

Face sketches
"Head is the most important part of the body, so practice it as much as possible," said a pro artist in Imagine FX mag. Here's selected pages of water color, acrylic and even oil on heavy paper sketchbook. Most are from imagination, with the exception of the first one which I drew after seeing interesting eyes in some photo. I try to write notes and draw arrows to point out less successful details so that I can avoid them later.

Moleskine fun & DIY easel
Two spreads from my moleskine large and pocket sketchbooks. It's great to have a pocket sketchbook with you everywhere, you never get bored in waiting rooms, public transportations when you can just draw.
In late December I took some time to build a Do-It-Yourself studio easel. Thanks to these instructions I was able to customise one for my painting needs and limited working space. The canvas platform height can be adjusted with handy wing nuts. The oak-esque wood stain finish makes the easel a pretty nice-looking furniture too. The materials didn't cost very much either, plus it was fun to do some wood work for a change, not to mention I couldn't afford one of those expensive Mabef easels in times like these. Expect large paintings in near future.
